Recreation

Grant-Valkaria offers many recreational activities. Enjoying miles of Scenic Highway frontage on the Indian River Lagoon, and located minutes from the Sebastian Inlet, Grant-Valkaria is the perfect spot for both in-shore and off-shore fishing, boating, canoeing, and kayaking. In addition, of the approximately 30 square miles that make up the Town, thousands of acres of pine woodlands and oak hammocks are preserved lands which will eventually be part of the Greenway and county trail system, providing access to Old Florida nature for equestrians, hikers and ecotourism. 

Parks

Grant-Valkaria Community Park 

This shaded 39.45-acre community park is home to the Town Hall and other facilities listed below:

Playground

This playground encompasses Payton’s Playspace which is a nature inspired play area for younger children.  In addition to the playspace, the playground features a slide, swings, additional play equipment, and a fitness course for the older children. 

Disc Golf

Red Berry Hill is a 9-hole disc golf course located in the middle of the park. It’s a course that has the beauty of nature, Mach V targets, and turf tees. Brochures are available inside Town Hall. 

Bird Island Trail

This one-mile trail will take you around Bird Island which is in the middle lake of the park. 

Fishing

There are two catch and release fishing areas within the park. One of the lakes is located in front of Town Hall. The other lake is located at the back of the park. There is no fishing allowed in the middle lake. 

The park is open from dawn to dusk and is located at1449 Valkaria Road, Grant-Valkaria, FL 32950.

Boat Landings and Ramps

All boat ramps in the Town are maintained by Brevard County. The ramps provide access to the Indian River Lagoon and the nearby Sebastian Inlet.

First Street Boat Ramp

This 0.54-acre boating area provides access to the Indian River with facilities such as a 1-lane boat ramp, raised wooden boat dock, parking for 30 cars and six trailers. First Street Boat Ramp is also a popular staging area for the small islands in the Indian River. There are no restroom facilities at this location. 

Fisherman’s Landing

Featuring the Grant Historical House, this scenic 7.48-acre community park situated along the Indian River is a perfect wayside stop for travelers and a convenient site for community events. The shaded pavilion with restrooms nearby, path, and boardwalk invite picnics and leisurely strolls, and the 200' pier is popular for people who like to fish. Although motorized boat launching is not permitted, hand-carried canoes and kayaks have access from the north parking area.

Originally erected in 1916 and has been restored complete with a collection of antiques and furniture that capture the time when it thrived. Today the Grant Historical House stands as a monument to the early pioneer days and is a tribute to the history of the Florida community.

John Jorgensen Landing Boat Ramp

The John Jorgensen Landing has a 2 lane boat ramp, one 50 foot dock, and two 30 foot docks. 

Christenson’s Landing

This 3.92 acre park with boat access is a popular for fishing, marine life observation, boating, and is a great staging area for exploring the small islands along the Indian River. Amenities include six lanes of boat ramps, two fishing piers, restroom building with non-potable water, benches that overlook the Indian River ideal for observing wildlife, and a natural shoreline mitigation area.

Valkaria Airport 

Located at 1 Pilots’ Place, Grant-Valkaria, FL 32950. The Valkaria Airport serves the needs of recreational and general aviation flying. 

Habitat at Valkaria Golf Course

Challenge yourself on a par 72 championship golf course—The Habitat at Valkaria. Near to the Indian River Lagoon and Brevard County's southern boundary, this championship golf course is a haven for wildlife and golfers. A sense of solitude prevails throughout the wetlands, pine forests, and rolling terrain—as the only backyard you're in belongs to sandhill cranes, gopher tortoises, scrub-jays and other wildlife.
