The Building Department will ensure quality development while protecting the life, health, property, safety and welfare of all residents through enforcement of the Town of Grant-Valkaria Codes & Ordinances, and the Florida Building Codes.

Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 am - 5:30 pm, closed on Fridays. The Building Department is located inside Town Hall at 1449 Valkaria Road, Grant-Valkaria, FL 32950.
Current Florida Building Code:
Attention Builders and Contractors: Effective December 31, 2023, the Florida Building Commission published the 2023 Florida Building Code, 8th Edition. All permit applications submitted on or after December 31, 2023, to the Town’s Building Department must comply with the new provisions.
Apply For a Permit

Schedule an Inspection
Contractors may schedule inspections online by selecting the following link: Inspection requests. Owner/Builders may email info [at] grantvalkaria.org (info[at]grantvalkaria[dot]org) or call Town Hall at 321-951-1380 to schedule inspections.
For next business day inspections, requests must be received before 4:00 p.m.
Any inspection that fails will be charged a re-inspection fee. This fee must be paid before the next inspection, with the exception of all new construction, which must be paid before receiving a Certificate of Occupancy.
Contractor Registration & Permitting Information
The Town of Grant-Valkaria Building Department has permitting jurisdiction for all properties within the Town of Grant-Valkaria.
All State of Florida licensed contractors intending to pull permits within the Town must first register with the Building Department. Registration can be completed by emailing the following documents below to info [at] grantvalkaria.org (info[at]grantvalkaria[dot]org).
- A copy of your Florida Contractor License or County Competency Card
- A copy of your Certificate of General Liability Insurance (see requirements below)
- A copy of your Certificate of Worker’s Compensation Insurance (see requirements below)
- A copy of your Business Tax Receipt (BTR) / Occupational License
Insurance Requirements
General Liability Insurance (Minimum Coverage)
- Bodily Injury: $300,000
- Property Damage: $50,000*
*Applies per accident, including damage to rights-of-way and/or shrubbery.
Worker’s Compensation Insurance
Contractors must provide:
- Proof of Worker’s Compensation Insurance, or
- A valid exemption waiver in accordance with Florida law

If you plan to pull permits in another Brevard County municipality, you must contact that municipality directly for their specific requirements.
Unlicensed Contractors
Under state and local law any person you hire under contract (verbal or written) to perform construction work on your property must be a licensed contractor. The contractor must be either state certified or registered.
