Recreational Activities in Grant-Valkaria

Grant-Valkaria offers many recreational activities. Enjoying 5 miles of Scenic Highway frontage on the Indian River Lagoon, and located minutes from the Sebastian Inlet, Grant-Valkaria is the perfect spot for both in-shore and off-shore fishing, boating, canoeing, and kayaking. In addition, of the approximately 30 square miles that make up the Town, thousands of acres of pine woodlands and oak hammocks are preserved lands which will eventually be part of the Greenway and county trail system, providing access to Old Florida nature for equestrians, hikers and ecotourism. Grant-Valkaria’s lesser traveled country roads are a favorite for cyclists. The equestrian community is very active and numerous equestrian facilities are located in Town. Grant-Valkaria also boasts the Habitat Golf Course, the Valkaria Airport, 3 boat launching parks with numerous ramps.
 

Parks

Grant-Valkaria Park

This shaded 39.45-acre community park is home to the Town Hall and other facilities including restrooms, pavilions and a playground connected by a concrete walkway. Activities include fishing, picnics, strolling and a bird sanctuary.

Boat Landings

All of the boat ramps provide accesso the Indian River  Lagoon and the nearby Sebastian Inlet.

First Street Boat Ramp

This 0.54-acre boating area provides access to the Indian River. Facilities include a 1-lane boat ramp, parking for 30 cars and 6 trailers, and a boat dock.

Fisherman’s Landing
 

Featuring the Grant Historical House, this scenic 7.48-acre community river park is a perfect wayside stop for travelers and a convenient site for community events. The shaded pavilion and 2 grills with restrooms nearby, path and boardwalk invite picnics and leisurely strolls. The fishing deck accommodates fishing, and may be used by boaters to access the restrooms and picnic area. Although motorized boat launching is not permitted, hand-carried canoes and kayaks may put-in from the north parking area. For Grant Historical House information call (321) 723-8543.

 

John Jorgensen Landing Boat Ramp

The John Jorgensen Landing, 5045 US Hwy 1 Grant, FL 32949, boat ramp along the western shores of the Indian River in Grant, Florida has 2 single boat ramps, docks, parking for about 25 boat trailers, picnic table.

This active 0.49-acre boating area includes 300 ft of shoreline and boat ramps with docks and parking for 25 cars and trailers.

Christenson’s Landing

Christenson’s landing is Grant-Valkaria’s newest boat ramp, and provides 4 lane for boat acess to the Indian River Lagoon and nearby Sebastian Inlet. ADA is prvided, with Designated Handicap Trailer Parking, Handicap Accessible Docks, Restrooms, and Boat Dock.

Valkaria Airport

Valkaria Airport is located in the southeast portion of Brevard County and nine miles south of Melbourne, Florida, in the Town of Grant-Valkaria. Valkaria Airport (FAA LID: X59) is a public-use airport located on Valkaria Road, approximately 1.7 miles west of U.S. 1.  The airport serves the needs of Recreational & General Aviation Flying.

The Habitat at Valkaria Golf Course

In close proximity to the Indian River Lagoon and Brevard County’s southern boundary, this championship golf course is a haven for wildlife and golfers. A sense of solitude prevails throughout the wetlands, pine forests, and rolling terrain—as the only backyard you’re in belongs to sandhill cranes, gopher tortoises, scrub-jays and other wildlife. With imaginative topographical features, mounded fairways, water features and elevation changes, each hole uniquely tests the golfer. Although the Scottish 6th and the Carolina Style 13th hole are a challenge, the beauty of the natural hazards is an unforgettable experience for both beginner and pro.
